The den and office in this 1960s Colonial Revival residence felt like a puzzle. With its vaulted ceilings and two-floor layout, the space was impressive. But its layout was poorly conceived. To optimize the space’s flow and relationship with the outdoors, we moved the staircase and encased the room in custom millwork, creating a functional and striking sanctuary in a style that some might call organic brutalism.
